Brown Turns Golden For Sick Kids

In a period where jockey’s have been in the news for all the wrong reasons Corey Brown will bring a much needed positive story into the news this week.

As part of his role as Golden Slipper Sydney Carnival ambassador Brown will visit the Children’s Hospital at Westmead today to try and bring the excitement of Sydney’s richest day of racing to the sick kids.

On Tuesday Brown was on the other side of the coin after missing the Golden Slipper barrier draw when his 14 year old daughter had to be taken to hospital with a serious bout on tonsillitis.

”It puts everything in perspective,” he said.

Brown will visit as many of the sick kids as he can with special gifts to try and create some Golden Slipper spirit with soft toy horses for the young ones and a range of racing themed children’s movies like Seabiscuit, Racing Stripes and Phar Lap.

The Melbourne Cup winning jockey will also provide a personal donation on $2,500 on behalf of trainer and fellow Sydney Carnival Rosehill Gardens ambassador Chris Waller.

Brown will ride the outsider Hot Snitzel in the 2011 Golden Slipper for Gerald Ryan from gate seven.
