Leading Melbourne trainer Peter Moody expects his smart filly Bring Me The Maid to further improve after scoring a comfortable win in the Group 2 $175,000 Coolmore Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Randwick today.

Bring Me The Maid stamped herself as one of the main chances for the Group 1 $1m Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill in three weeks after Luke Nolen steered her to a one and half lengths win over the brave Memorial ($4.60), ridden by James McDonald.
The winner’s stablemate Clover Lane ($41) also raced well to finish third in the small field on the heavy track.
Bring Me The Maid was always the top pick after the scratching of the early favourite Earthquake and started at the short odds of $1.85.
Moody said that he plenty of Spring Carnival options for the Sebring filly but was leaning towards a start in the Golden Rose.
“She has trained on nicely from her juvenile year, she has taken the next step, very pleased with her, her trials have been good in Queensland and then when she came down here,” Moody said.
“She was just too good for them, she had a bit on them and she is opened to good improvement.”
“She’s got the job done today and like I say upwards and onwards.”
“The fillies have always had half a lap on the colts as two year olds, is that going to be the case as three year olds.”
“It would be hard not to go to the Golden Rose in three weeks, it would be a nice gap off a heavy track today.”
“Or we have got the fillies’ path or we can go back to Melbourne so there is a heap of options at this point.”
Bring Me The Maid was having her first run since finishing third to Mossfun in the Group 1 $3.5m Tooheys New Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill in April and Nolen made the most of the opportunity replacing the suspended Chad Schofield who had ridden the filly at all her previous starts.
Nolen settled Bring Me The Maid near the tail of the six horse field and eased her to the middle of the track to make her winning run.
