Earthquake was a clear favourite to win the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m), but Godolphin have opted not to run the talented filly on a heavy track first-up and she is likely to return to the races in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on September 6.

Trainer Peter Moody had no hesitation running Bring Me The Maid on the heavy Royal Randwick track, after she performed strongly on a heavy surface in both the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) as a two-year-old, and he believes that the daughter of Sebring will prove very difficult to beat in the Silver Shadow Stakes this afternoon.

“You only need to look at her form to see that she isn’t a bad filly,” Moody told Sky Racing HQ this morning.

“She is proven on the soft ground with the residual fitness through that Queensland winter.

“They are ready to run first-up and I don’t really fear having a hard run because of that base fitness.

“She will go to the races and it will take a good one to beat her I think.”

Bring Me The Maid was settled towards the tail of the field before running on strongly in the Listed Sports 1000 (1000m), Magic Night Stakes and Golden Slipper in the autumn, but Moody believes that the three-year-old may be able to settle a bit closer to the leaders in the Silver Shadow Stakes this afternoon after she showed plenty of early speed in an impressive barrier trial behind San Domenico Stakes winner Nostradamus at Hawkesbury on August 11.

“I don’t think that she needs to be far off them and as she showed in that trial, she probably could have led Nostradamus,” Moody said.

“She will just bounce and travel wherever she is comfortable and I don’t think that we will be looking for a lot of cover today.

“We will just ride her where she lands.”

Only six fillies remain in the 2014 Silver Shadow Stakes field and Bring Me The Maid is likely to continue to receive the majority of betting support heading into the Group 2 event.

Godolphin filly Memorial is on the second line of Silver Shadow Stakes odds of $3.70, while there has been a sprinkling of support for Alpha Miss ($6.50) and Press Report ($9).
