Bring Me The Maid impresses Schofield in Hawkesbury Trial

Golden Slipper placegetter Bring Me The Maid has impressed rider Glyn Schofield in a Hawkesbury barrier trial as she continues her preparation for her Spring Carnival debut at Randwick next week.

Schofield was having his first ride on the Sebring filly when she ran second to the Team Hawkes trained Nostradamus in a 760m trial on Monday and was certain that she could take her good two year old form into her three year old season.

“She has to make the progression from a two-year-old to a three-year-old and she certainly feels like she’s done that,” Schofield told Racing Network.

“She trialled really well, she hit the line with a lot of gusto. If you didn’t know who she was you’d certainly say she’s a good horse.”

The Peter Moody trained filly had had one previous trial at Doomben after spelling in Queensland and ran second for Chad Schofield who rode her all through the Autumn Carnival, including a third to Mossfun and Earthquake in the Group 1 $3.5m Tooheys New Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on April 5.

Even though Schofield was happy with the way that Bring Me The Maid felt, Moody will give her a light Spring preparation and give her the chance to keep developing in the lead up to next Autumn.

“She hasn’t strengthened a lot — I think she’s still a preparation away,” Moody said.

“She’s grown a bit, but I’d like to see her grow a bit more. I’m looking forward to getting her back to the races, but I’m thinking she’ll have a pretty light spring and be aimed at the autumn again.”

Moody has picked out the Group 2 $175,000 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) for the three year old fillies at Randwick on August 23 as Bring Me The Maid’s come back run which could see her clash with Earthquake who is resuming on the same day.

But Golden Slipper winner Mossfun will be an absentee with Team Hawkes reporting that filly has picked up a virus and won’t be making a return until late in the Spring Carnival if she recovers in time.

Moody will also get a good guide on the progress of Bring Me The Maid with Hawkesbury trial winner Nostradamus set to go around in the Group 3 $125,000 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Nostradamus scored on debut over 1100m at Flemington on January 18 but hasn’t raced since running seventh to Earthquake in the Group 1 $1m Sportingbet Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22.
