A massive Sydney traffic jam couldn’t keep Josh Parr from steering Brilliant Bisc to an all the way win in the Listed $100,000 Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Randwick today.

Parr only arrived on track with thirty seconds to spare before Stewards were preparing to replace him on the Peter Moody filly for the first two year old race of the season.

Brilliant Bisc jumped straight to the front from gate two and was never headed before holding off the strong finish of Guelph and Shahad.

“The highway was closed. I said to Dad you take over the steering and I got dressed in the back seat. I got my gear all ready to go and thankfully the stewards were patient enough with me, they held off and let me ride the filly which I was desperate to ride,” Parr said.

Sydney foreman for the Moody’s Rosehill stable Claire Cunningham took all the credit for Brilliant Bisc’s first up win after preparing the Elvstroem youngster exclusively out of the Rosehill base.

“We’ve done all the work in Rosehill. Pete’s laid eyes on her probably twice, watched her gallop once. It’s such a rewarding win, we’ve done everything.” Cunningham said.

The disappointment of the race was the Gai Waterhouse trained Sugar Rush who finished sixth over eight lengths from the winner after  being trapped wide for the majority of the race.

Sugar Rush was heavily backed to start the $1.55 favourite but struggled all the way down the Randwick straight after coming around the home turn four and five horses wide.
