Brightest (inside) has won three of four career starts

Guy Walter was unearthed a shining prospect in the last month or so with his three-year-old filly Brightest.

She’s won three of four career starts and the only time she didn’t win she was a very close second.

Her latest victory came at Royal Randwick on Saturday and that win has indicated to Walter that she’s a horse that’s going place.

“She’s got a future, she’s  very strong,  gives the impressive she’ll go further,” he said.

While they are excited about her ability, they don’t want to push her too hard too soon.

“This is her first racing campaign so we’ll probably go through to the winter and give her a spring spell,” he said.

“I’ve got a good opinion of her, I think she’s well above average.”

While she might be finishing off her work for this year her stablemate Streama is just starting up a brand new campaign.

“Just come back into work, the thought with her would be to get her ready for the Silver Shadow on August 22nd,” Walter said.

She’s also had four career starts and while her record isn’t as good, it’s certainly not bad with a win and two second place finishes.

She’ll be a big player throughout the Spring Carnival for Walter and an important one too with Digital Fortress once again not expected to be seen.

He didn’t run in Autumn, didn’t run in Winter and apparently will miss the entire Spring period as well with Walter wanting to make sure he’s absolutely at full fitness.

“We gave him a good spell after Melbourne and when  we brought him back into work I didn’t think he was 100 percent,” he said.

” I thought that I would give him a nice long spell, he’s a gelding he’s got time on his side.”

Digital Fortress made a big name for himself in 2010 and his final run was a very gallant fourth in the Victoria Derby.

“He won nicely over a mile a couple of times, I’m hoping that in time he’ll be a stayer that’s got a bit of a turn of foot,” Walter said.

“He’s certainly grown into a beautiful big horse.”
