Black Caviar has started pre-training in the lead up to the Spring Carnival

Top rated sprinter Black Caviar has started pre-training after having a six week spell following her BTC Cup win in Brisbane.

The four-year-old mare is in work in preparation for her upcoming Melbourne spring carnival campaign.

Trainer Peter Moody is yet to decide on a race for Black Caviar to resume in, but anticipates it will be in mid-October.

“We haven’t thought about it,” Moody said.

Moody said that Black Caviar has come back from the paddock in good form.

“She kicked off pre-training today and is in good shape,” he said.

“She usually comes in to work around the 600 kilogram mark and she’s about 610 or 615 which is normal.”

The trainer is hoping to keep her in pre-training for the next four weeks, before bringing her back to her home stables at Caulfield.

“She will have a month in pre-training then we will bring her back to Caulfield and see where we are at with her,” Moody said.

Black Caviar has already won all 13 of her career race starts and will be out to continue her dominance in the spring carnival.

Moody is currently preparing the super mare for a number of Melbourne appearances before travelling her overseas to compete on the world stage in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint in December.
