Trainer Chris Waller is confident that Brazen Beau will take plenty of benefit from his first-up run in the 2014 The Run To The Rose at Rosehill Gardens this weekend.

Brazen Beau has not been seen at the races since he finished a close second behind Almalad in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 7, but he was tuned up for his return to racing with a couple of barrier trial starts at Rosehill Gardens and Randwick.
The I Am Invincible colt worked home strongly in a barrier trial over 840 metres at Randwick on Saturday, but Waller told TVN that he believes the three-year-old will take plenty of benefit out of the Group 3 The Run To The Rose (1200m) heading into the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 13.
“It was always our intention to be running him this week,” Waller said.
“He had a trial last Saturday and he has come back from his Brisbane winter jaunt with no problems.
“He has come back a stronger horse again.
“He will be tested in terms of fitness on Saturday, but it is a nice lead-up into the Golden Rose two weeks later.
“The biggest concern will be a wet track, he is obviously better on top of the ground.
“Mentally he is a great horse to train and hopefully he can take all those positives out of that good serious preparation that he had in the winter.”
2013 Golden Rose Stakes winner Zoustar started his 2013 Spring Racing Carnival campaign in The Run To The Rose and Brazen Beau has followed a near identical career path to the recently retired two-time Group 1 winner.
Brazen Beau scored an impressive win on debut at Canterbury on February 5 and was set for a 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival campaign after he finished fifth in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) at Warwick Farm on March 8.
The talented colt scored his maiden win at Group level in the Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 10 and he made up plenty of ground late when second in the Group 2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes (1350m) before, like Zoustar, he finished second in the J.J. Atkins.
Brazen Beau is currently available at 2014 Golden Rose Stakes odds of $8 in the betting market with Ladbrokes Australia.
