Brazen Beau was slightly disappointing first-up in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on September 13, but returned to his best form in the Roman Consul Stakes and was far too good for his rivals in the race.

Jockey Joao Moreira gave Brazen Beau the perfect run into the Roman Consul Stakes, while Hallowed Crown was blocked for a run, and the leading hoop said that he was most impressed with the explosive turn-of-foot of the talented three-year-old.

“He is a lovely horse and he traveled so nice and kind for me in the race,” Moreira said.

“When I put him under pressure in the straight he just gave me everything that he has got and I am very proud to be his jockey today.

“Chris knows this horse better than anybody else and hi instructions were just let him roll and he should put himself close to the pace and if I tried not to fight with him too early then he would finish off and that is what he has done today.”

Trainer Chris Waller has always had a high opinion of Brazen Beau and he was thrilled to see the son of I Am Invincible return to his best in the Group 3 event this afternoon.

Waller won the 2013 edition of the Roman Consul Stakes with Zoustar who went on to win the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) and the leading Sydney trainer said that Brazen Beau would follow a similar path during the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.

“We saw the real horse turn up today,” Waller said.

“That was always the plan (to head to the Coolmore Stud Stakes) and fortunetly we have stuck to it.

“He has had the experience of running down the straight and he is going in with winning form.”

The Waller stable was responsible in enticing Moreira to come to Australia to take the ride on He’s Your Man in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) and Waller hopes that the talented hoop can maintain his winning form in the Group 1 events this afternoon.

“It was certainly a winning move I guess and we saw that in the last race and again today,” Waller said.

“It is good to have him on fire going into these big Group 1 races.

“Confidence is a big thing for any sportsman, so it is good to get the monkey off the back with a winner on a big day and hopefully we can win one of the big ones later.”

Hallowed Crown was blocked for a run at a key stage of the race, but he did not make up a great deal of ground when he finally found clear running in the final stages, while Nostradamus worked home well to finish second.
