Last start Doomben winner Brazen Beau heads the nominations for the Group 2 $250,000 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Brazen Beau was very impressive in winning the Group 2 $175,000 Bollinger Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 10 and the I Am Invincible colt is well on the way to emulate trainer Chris Waller’s other smart two year old who went through the 2010 Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Pressday arrived in Brisbane with a win on the Kensington track to his credit but was able to win the Champagne Classic before going on to win the Sires’ Produce Stakes and the Group 1 $500,000 T J Smith (1600m) at Eagle Farm.
The T J Smith has subsequently had a name change and is now known as the Group 1 $500,000 J.J. Atkins (1600m) to be run at Eagle Farm on June 7 and will the main goal for Brazen Beau.
Waller is pleased with the way Brazen Beau has pulled up after the Champagne Classic win and is primed for the second leg of the Brisbane Winter Carnival two year old triple crown.
“He’s come through the Champagne well and will run in the Sires,” Waller told Racing Network.
Brazen Beau is one of seventeen two year olds nominated for the Sires’ Produce Stakes which include the undefeated Victorian colt Pressing.
The Mick Price trained Pressing scored at big odds first up over 1200m at Caulfield on April 12 then repeated that effort with a dashing three and a half lengths win in the Listed $120,000 Sky High Mt Dandenong Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on May 3.
Brazen Beau will again be taking on the Tony Gollan trained colt Looks Like The Cat and Mohave from the John O’Shea stable after both two year olds finished behind him in the Champagne Classic.
Gollan has a big opinion of Looks Like The Cat after the Husson youngster ran home strongly for second while Mohave is a likely improver after finishing fifth.
O’Shea has also nominated Exceed And Excel colt Careless who has had a short freshen up since running second to Veuvelicious in the Listed $150,000 Adina Apartment Hotels Fernhill Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on April 19.
Also of note is the Noel Doyle trained filly Aimee who is coming off a win in the Listed $125,000 Moreton Hire Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on May 3.
