Bowman to ride From Within in Magic Millions 2yo Classic

Top Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman will combine again with leading trainer Chris Waller when he partners smart filly From Within in the $2m Jeep Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Bowman was on the sidelines because of a careless riding suspension when From Within scored on debut with Glyn Schofield in the saddle in an 1100m 2yo Plate at Canterbury on December.

But the Waller stable said that the leading Group 1 rider would take the mount on the Not A Single Doubt filly when she lines up in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic on the weekend.

“She will be ridden by Hugh Bowman in the Magic Millions who was suspended during her race debut,” Waller’s foreman Charlie Duckworth said in a statement on twitter.

Even though Bowman missed the winning ride on From Within at Canterbury, he has had plenty of opportunity to get a feel of the filly and was aboard her in an all-important gallop at Rosehill on Saturday morning.

Duckworth said that Bowman was happy with the hit out and From Within will have her final Magic Millions lead up gallop on Tuesday morning before being declared a certain starter.

“She was asked to improve from the 400m mark and quickened stylishly pleasing Hugh Bowman,” the statement read on twitter.

“Hugh was happy with how she felt and her turn of foot. She may have another gallop on Tuesday morning but at this stage we are confident that she will race in the Magic Millions.”

From Within is on the second line of betting at $4.20 with Ladbrokes.com.au for the Magic Millions 2yo Classic behind the undefeated Gold Coast filly Houtzen who heads the market order at $3.60.

The Toby Edmonds trained Houtzen kept her winning record intact when she made it two from two with an effortless all the way win in an 1100m 2yo Handicap at the Gold Coast last Saturday which followed her win on debut in a 1050m 2yo Handicap at Doomben on December 24.

Next in the betting at $7.50 is the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Invincible Star just ahead of Lindsay Park’s Madeenaty and the Chris Munce trained Ours To Keep at $8.50.

Market order for the Magic Millions 2yo Classic at Ladbrokes.com.au: $3.60 Houtzen, $4.20 From Within, $7.50 Invincible Star, $8.50 Madeenaty, Ours To Keep, $17 Falconic, $21 Champ Elect, Chauffeur, Goodfella, $26 Cellargirl, $31 Bring It Home Pop, $41 Colosimo, Debonairly, $51 All Too Huiying, Darhad, Invader, Madam Moustache, Tiara Star.
