Australia’s leading Group 1 winning jockey Hugh Bowman has picked up the ride of the in-form Danish Twist in the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 25.

The Kris Lees trained Danish Twist is the winner of her last four starts and will head to Queensland on the back of a win in the Listed $100,000 Sydney Markets Limited June Stakes (1100m) at Randwick last Saturday.

Kris Lees’ stable manager Lucas Miller said that Danish Twist has earned her chance to chase a Group 1 victory and will now travel to Queensland for the Tattersall’s Club Tiara, the last Group 1 of the 2015 – 2016 racing season.

“She is a gem of a mare,’’ Miller said after her win last Saturday.

“Kris took her up to the farm after her win at Scone and freshened her up for a few days.

“She was very good. She keeps finding ‘grand finals’ and just keeps winning. She has earned her chance at a Group 1 at Eagle Farm in two weeks.’’

Danish Twist’s winning run began with a victory in the $400,000 The Provincial Championships Final (1400m) at Randwick on the second day of ‘The Championships’ on April 9 followed by a win in 1300m BenchMark 85 Handicap at Hawkesbury on April 30.

The Dane Shadow mare then continued on her winning way by taking out the Group 3 $200,000 Godolphin Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone on May 14 before heading back to Randwick.

Bowman has only recently return from a successful month’s riding stint in Japan but was out of luck at the reopening day of the Eagle Farm track last Saturday.

Bowman had nine rides on the ten event program that boasted four Group 1s, but the best he could do was a second on the Chris Waller trained Invincibella in the Listed $100,000 James Boag’s Premium Lancaster Stakes (1200m).

With one Group 1 left to be decided this season, Bowman leads the field with ten Group 1 wins on Australian soil and has also scored two in Hong Kong on the John Moore trained Werther in the Group 1 HK$18m The BMW Hong Kong Derby (2000m) in March and in the Group 1 HK$20m Audemars Piguet QEII Cup (2000m) in April.
