Top Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman and Victorian trainer Robbie Laing will join forces again with smart youngster Boomwaa in the $250,000 Inglis Classic (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Bowman and Laing combined to win the 2013 Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington with Polanksi during the Melbourne Spring Carnival and another major race win is on the cards.
Melbourne jockey Vlad Duric was aboard Boomwaa when the gelding was a three lengths winner in the Group 3 $150,000 The Hong Kong Jockey Club Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) at Flemington on November 9.
While Blake Shinn had the ride when Boomwaa resumed from a short break to run second to Gai Waterhouse’s Golden Slipper aspirant Fighting Sun.
Bowman has familiarised himself the impressive Flemington winner with a track work session last Saturday and will be aboard again in a gallop tomorrow morning.
“Hugh rode him work at Rosehill on Saturday and will give him another work-out tomorrow,” Laing told AAP.
“He will gallop with one of Gerald Ryan’s and have a good gallop over 600 metres to clean him up.”
Laing stopped over in Sydney on his way home from the Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sales and was happy with the way Boomwaa looked.
“I stopped in to see the horse on the way home to Victoria from the Gold Coast sales and he looks great,” Laing said.
“I guess he would have to be favourite although the New Zealand horse has won two from two.”
Laing was referring to the Tony Pike trained Vinnie Eagle who is undefeated from two race starts, including a win at Group 3 level in the NZ$70,000 Barneswood Farm Eclipse Stakes (1200m) at Ellersille in New Zealand on January 1.
The Cranbourne trainer expects Boomwaa to strip a much fitter horse at Randwick on Saturday with the Rosehill run under his belt.
“He had four weeks off which is all he could have,” Laing said.
“He was a bit rusty when he raced at Rosehill and is much better for that run.”
