Bott Thrilled with Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Hand

Co-trainer Adrian Bott is confident that stable mates Madonnica and Dinnigan are well-equiped for their respective appearances in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m) this afternoon.

Both fillies have shown plenty of ability in barrier trials so-far but Madonnica is the only filly of the pairing that has made a competitive appearance at the races prior to the Wyong Magic Millions, having run a fair second to Sebring Express in the Kooindah Waters Resort Maiden (1000m) on December 7th.

Bott told Racing Ahead that Madonnica has thrived since the hit-out and believes that her proven ability at Wyong could mean the difference this afternoon.

“She was very sharp in her trial, she did everything right,” Bott said.

“She jumped and got plenty of early speed and put herself right in the trial, and then did that in her first-up run.

“She had a bit of a quick turnaround between her trial and going to that first Wyong race.

“This has probably always been more of a target for her, so there’s definitely improvement from the first-up run for her.”

Dinnigan is yet to make her racing debut, but Bott believes that she has displayed the right class to stamp herself as one to watch in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

“She really impressed us in her trial,” Bott said.

“She’s a classy filly herself and she’s thriving at present. She’s one that we’re obviously thinking we can get her up to the Magic Millions and this is the ideal stepping stone for her.

“Absolutely delighted to see her win the barrier trial and the way she did it, she relaxed nicely and really quickened. She had a great turn of foot.

“That’s what we love to see from these two-year-olds in their trials and I think she’s a great chance today for us.”

Bott said that he will instruct Tommy Berry to find a position close to the speed when he partners Dinnigan this afternoon.

“She settled nicely in the trial, she wasn’t out there making the pace. We like them naturally to be forward and not too far off the pace,” he said.

Tommy partnered her in the trial and he’s on her again today so hopefully she’s there or there abouts.

“There looks to be a little bit of pace in there, but I think she’ll be right up there. She’ll have blinkers on, so she’ll be travelling up there.”

Dinnigan is currently considered a $3.20 chance in Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic betting markets at Ladbrokes, while Madonnica can be taken at a $26 quote.
