Glen Boss rode Hay List to his last win

Glen Boss or ‘Group 1 Bossy’ as he’s often know can find a winner across pretty much any track, anywhere on the planet.

His latest stint as seen him head over to Singapore to sneak in a few weeks during the switch from the Sydney Autumn Carnival to the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

His stay will be interrupted this Saturday though when he’ll be back in his home state to ride Hay List in the 2011 BTC Cup at Doomben.

In typically Bossy style he calls the race as he sees it.

“If he doesn’t bring his A-game she just smashes him again, ” he said of Black Caviar versus Hay List.

“If he does bring his A-game then it could be a real contest.”

Boss rode Hay List to a win last start in the All Aged Stakes but is under no illusions he’ll need to improve considerably from that run.

“I’m just hoping that he gets up there to Doomben on Saturday and put’s his best foot forward,” he said.

“I hope he turns up and has a really red hot go and she does the same, you know she’ll do the same.”

Hay List once again drew a barrier outside the wonder mare and trainer John McNair has been toying with the idea of settling him off the pace in a new tactic against his rivals.

While Boss acknowledges he hasn’t thought too much about the ride yet, he seems content to stick with what he knows best.

“He’s got good gate speed and take sup position very quickly, that’s a given, ” he said.

“I basically think that’s what he’ll do again, he’ll go forward and Buffering will go forward and we’ll be one two.”

The 2011 BTC Cup is expected to be run in front of a record crowd at Doomben with capacity a real chance of being reached with tickets outselling last year’s contest ten to one.

“It’s just fantastic, it’s amazing what one racehorse can do for the industry…it’s come at the right time and is a great boost for Queensland Racing and a credit to Peter Moody and the owners for taking her up here,” he said.

“I hope they do have to lock the gates, it’ll be a thrill riding in front of so many people again.”

It’s shaping as a good period for Boss who has also booked the ride of champion galloper Sacred Kingdom in Singapore.

“He’s been a champion sprinter for a few years now and he looks like he’s back,” he said.

“He does perform when he comes to Singapore and I’m sure he’ll be a great ride.”
