Glen Boss will miss the ride on Kermadec in the 2015 George Main Stakes after his appeal against the severity of his careless riding charge was dismissed by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board.

Boss was found guilty for careless riding on Kinglike in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday after Racing Victoria stewards alleged that near the 100 metres mark he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of Headwater, which led to Headwater being taken in that led to crowding for Brockhoff, Boston Light and Ready For Victory.
Boss was dismayed by the suspension and he was quick to appeal against the severity, but Racing Victoria confirmed this afternoon that the suspension had been upheld and Boss would be unable to ride until next Wednesday.
“In assessing penalty, Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid-range category of carelessness and took into account his good record,” the Racing Victoria stewards statement said
“A Notice of Appeal against the decision and severity of the penalty was lodged on Monday, 14 September 2015.
“A stay of proceedings was not requested.
“At the hearing an application was made by Mr Boss to amend his appeal to be against severity of penalty only – this application was accepted by the Board.
“The Board dismissed Mr Boss’ appeal with the original penalty to remain standing.”
Boss rode Kermadec for the first time when he recorded an impressive victory in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 6 and he has maintained his partnership with the Teofilo entire in two race starts during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival.
Kermadec returned to the races in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m), but he got too far back in the early stages of the race before he ran on strongly to finish fifth before he had no luck in running whatsoever in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on September 5 and he was still able to finish second.
Trainer Chris Waller is yet to decide on who will take the ride on Kermadec in the 2015 George Main Stakes, but he will not be short of volunteers as the Doncaster Mile winner is currently a clear favourite to take out the Group 1 event.
Kermadec is currently available at 2015 George Main Stakes odds of $3.10 with Ladbrokes and he is on top of betting from stablemate Royal Descent ($5.50), talented mare Lucia Valentina ($6.50), Doomben Cup winner Pornichet ($8), Tramway Stakes winner Hooked ($11) and John Sargent-trained Kirramosa ($11).
