Glen Boss is always looking for a quality horse to partner during the Spring Racing Carnival and the leading jockey believes that talented filly More Radiant could be the horse to give him his first Group 1 victory of the year.

Boss has a won a Group 1 in every calendar year since 2000, but he has not recorded a win at the highest level of racing since he steered Rebel Dane to victory in the 2013 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m), after having no luck during the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.
Trainer Mick Price revealed last month that More Radiant will be set for the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on November 1 and Boss believes that the More Than Ready filly is capable of giving him another win at Group 1 level after she impressed in her two race starts during her autumn campaign.
“The main one I’m interested to see when she comes back is More Radiant,” Boss told AAP.
“I’ve got a massive opinion of her, she’s pretty good.”
“What she did last preparation was amazing considering where she was in her racing life.
“Her run in Sydney behind Earthquake was quite unbelievable; she had a bad barrier, went back and made an unbelievable charging run to the line.”
More Radiant stamped herself as a filly to watch when she scored an upset victory over Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquake in a barrier trial at Cranbourne on January 30 and was immediately touted as a contender for the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).
Price played down talk of a tilt at the Golden Slipper with More Radiant and she made her racing debut with a close third behind Bring Me The Maid and Husson Eagle in the Listed Sports 1000 (1000m) at Flemington on March 1.
More Radiant was sent to Sydney for the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 22 and was settled at the tail of the field by Boss in the early stages of the race before storming home late to finish fourth behind Earthquake, Mossfun and Alpha Miss.
The rising three-year-old is expected to return to the races in the Listed Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 16 before contesting the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on September 13.
