Boss Confident of Relevant Caulfield Guineas Form for Chivalry

Performing well over his short seven race career to date, veteran jockey Glen Boss is confident classy three-year-old Chivalry is more than capable of overcoming a classy field and resounding pre-post favourite Rich Enuff in this afternoon’s featured Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

Quickly building to the task over his maiden racing campaign through the 2014 Autumn Racing Carnival, Chivalry quickly stamped his claims as one to watch upon returning to the track this time in; winning the Group 3 McNeil Stakes 91200m) first-up before placing a close second to Merion in the Listed Living Legends Stakes (1400m) on September 13th.

Disappointing when finishing off the pace in sixth in the Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) last time out, Boss believes the Street Cry colt can be forgiven for one off-colour performance and will take priceless benefit from the maiden appearance over a mile in the 2014 Caulfield Guineas.

“Rich Enuff is the benchmark there at the minute but I’m not conceding defeat in any way,” Boss told AAP.

“I think I’ve got the rest of them covered. It’s now just down to see who’s the best over the mile.”

“I’m confident my bloke is going to be really strong at the mile.”

Running second in the Leadwest Plate (1000m) at Flemington on debut on December 14th, Chivalry continued to announce his racing arrival through summer and autumn in winning the Quest Moonee Valley Plate (1000m) ahead of a classy field on December 28th and running third behind boom colt Rubick in the Group Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) on February 8th before placing a credible eighth in the featured Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (12000m) just two weeks later.

Allocated the somewhat wide and awkward barrier 12 for the 2014 Caulfield Guineas, Chivalry is currently available at a particularly generous quote of $12 for success, or $3.30 to figure in the places this afternoon at Ladbrokes Australia.

Rich Enuff remains sole occupant of the top line of betting at $2.25 odds, ahead of Shooting To Win ($6) and Looks Like The Cat ($6.50).
