Blake Shinn will continue his career comeback with a book of six rides at Canterbury today.
The jockey, whose chequered past includes a suspension for betting on his races, enjoyed his first win after a 12 month riding ban at just his second ride back at Sandown two weeks ago.
Shinn will now attempt to work his way up in the Sydney Jockey Premiership in order to reinstate himself as one of racing’s elite.
“It is no bigger task than it was before,” Shinn insisted.
“I’ve got some great support from all the leading trainers behind me, so I’m looking forward to it and getting myself back up to the top of the riding ranks.”
Shinn said that throughout his suspension he had always planned to return to Sydney, the place he has based himself for the last three years.
“My plan was just to get my eye in and the timing back in Melbourne. That is what I set out to achieve and I was able to get a couple of wins, which was great,” Shinn said.
“Now I am back here, it is full steam ahead and I am ready to go.”
Shinn feels near his best going into today’s meet at Canterbury and feels his hard work to stay fit will pay off.
The jockey’s first ride of the day will come aboard Bart Cummings’ Penheights in the Australian Turf Club Handicap.
Penheights is looking to improve greatly upon his 12th place finish in a Hawkesbury maiden last start.
The Pendragon three-year-old has had four career starts and will be looking to win his first race with the help of Shinn today.
Shinn’s other rides include Secret Destiny, Satisfies, Snitsky, Tigress Lily and Mr Edison.
