Black Type Races On The Agenda For Reemah

Reemah was unable to record a race win as a two-year-old, but Tom Dabernig is confident that the talented filly can be competitive at black-type level during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival.

Reemah made her racing debut with an eighth place finish behind Of The Brave in the Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on October 11 and she started her autumn campaign with a second place finish behind the talented Heatherly in the Fujitsu Plate (1000m) at Moonee Valley on February 6 before she almost recorded a massive upset win in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 28.

The Redoute’s Choice filly was sent to the spelling paddock after she failed to fire in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21, but she is now back in work and Dabernig told Racing Ahead yesterday that she will be given the chance to record a comfortable maiden race win before she is quickly stepped back-up to Group level.

“She is going to have a trial here at the farm next week,” Dabernig said.

“She definitely looks more furnished and she has a lot of talent.

“Hopefully as a three-year-old and a more mature horse we will see the best of her.

“She is an exciting horse looking forward.

“She is still a maiden so she will probably kick-off somewhere soft to make her a winner and we will be targeting black-type races through the spring.”

Lindsay Park have a big crop of rising three-year-olds that are working towards a return to the races and another filly that they are keen to record a maiden race win with is Air Apparent.

Air Apparent started her racing career with back-to-back second place finishes at Flemington on January 1 and Moonee Valley on January 30 before she made her black-type racing debut with a fourth place finish in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on February 14.

The Snitzel filly was far from disgraced when sixth in the Blue Diamond Stakes and she was narrowly denied by subsequent Group 1 winner Pasadena Girl in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on March 14 before she was sent to the spelling paddock after finish a slightly disappointing fourth in the Group 3 Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on March 28.
