Black Heart Bart has recorded six wins from his past seven starts and he earnt a trip to Adelaide for The Goodwood when he scored a string of victories in the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on February 7, the Listed Pinjarra Classic (1300m) on February 22 and the Listed Bunbury Stakes (1400m) on March 8.

Trainer Vaughn Sigley has been thrilled with the development that Black Heart Bart has made this preparation and he told Sky Racing HQ that he is hopeful that the Blackfriars gelding will prove good enough in the 2015 The Goodwood.

“He deserves his chance at a race like this,” Sigley said.

“He carried 61 kilos that day when he won with five and a half and he has just really hit his straps.

“He is a horse that has come on and he took a while to mature.

“We are looking forward to it and hopefully he is good enough to perform at the top level.”

Black Heart Bart had the opportunity to fly from Perth to Adelaide, but Sigley elected to send the four-year-old on float – a journey that took about two and a half days.

SIgley confirmed that Black Heart Bart had come through the testing journey without any issues and he said that he could not be happier with his star galloper heading into the The Goodwood this weekend.

“He is the type of horse that can get a little bit upset about this or that and we weren’t prepared to throw him on a plane,” Sigley said.

“He travelled over, it took two and a half days to get over by float, but he had a few stops along the way and he has done well.

“We just went a bit easy on him the first couple of days, but he came back and was bouncing around pretty quickly.

“We are very happy with him, he is clean in the wind, he is feeling well and he is bright as.”

Black Heart Bart has been backed from $5.50 into $4.60 in the 2015 The Goodwood betting market with Ladbrokes and he is currently an equal favourite with Hucklebuck, while he is available at a quote of $15 in Stradbroke Handicap betting markets.
