Black Caviar Made Eligible For Patinack Farm $600k Bonus

Black Caviar is now eligible for the $600,000 bonus for the winning the Patinack Farm Classic

Continuous criticism for this November’s Patinack Farm Classic $600,000 bonus has resulted in the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) altering the original conditions.

While the bonus was initially made available only to international horses in the race, the $600,000 is now up for grabs to any horse who wins the race and then goes on to claim victory in any other leg of the Global Sprint Challenge before July 31, 2012.

Black Caviar will now most likely be aimed once again at the Patinack Farm Classic since she is already being prepared for the ninth leg of the Global Sprint Challenge, the Hong Kong Sprint, in December.

If the race is won by a pre-race qualified horse, such as Rocket Man, then the amount will be payable immediately.

The VRC will begin a three-year trial of the bonus scheme beginning from this year’s race.

VRC chief executive Dale Monteith believes these new conditions will put an end to the disapproval that circled the original bonus restrictions.

“There has been much discussion regarding the Patinack Farm Classic bonus since it was first announced by the VRC and it has provided us with an opportunity to revisit the principles on which the bonus was first determined,” Mr Monteith said.

“This has enabled us, with some increased financial exposure, to provide a structure that we believe gives the best possible chance of attracting international sprinters to Flemington’s Melbourne Cup Carnival and to also encourage Australian horses to prove themselves on the world stage.”
