Such is the brilliance of Black Caviar that trainer Peter Moody may choose to completely forgo any kind of barrier trial or jumpout before the great mares return for the autumn.

It’s hardly a case of complacency though as he feels the horse has retained a good deal of residual fitness from her spring preparation.

This is despite the fact she only had a mere three runs but nobody knows Black Caviar like Peter Moody.

Many had assumed she would follow the same lead in as she has throughout her career with a single trial up to two weeks before her first run.

The most likely would have been at Caulfield next Tuesday given it’s 10 days before  her scheduled return in the Australia Stakes at Moonee valley.

Moody seems to be leaning towards no trial at all now though meaning the first glimpse we have of Black Caviar in 2012 will be with the streak on the line.

“She’s still got a fair bit of fitness left over from the spring, so we may just go straight to the Valley off the back of a couple of strong gallops,” Moody said.

This isn’t a new problem for Moody as Black Caviar has previously proved to be just as quick in the spelling paddock as she is on the track.

At one stage last year she was brought back into work but had to be sent away again because she was coming to hand too quickly.

Her trackwork over the last few weeks as been just as strong as ever and it’s expected she’ll face no more troubles this autumn than she did when breezing through her spring program.
