She may be the talk of Australia and indeed the name on many people’s lips right around the world but Black Caviar would do well to even bat an eye lid in the United States.

Sure much of their industry is stereotypically introverted and the whole style of racing very different but the United States don’t need to look to us to find unbeaten streaks.

In fact home grown talent Rapid Redux not only matches Black Caviar when it comes to the number of wins in a row, he spanks her.

The five year old earned his 21st consecutive victory on Tuesday and he’s done it the hard way.

A huge 19 of those wins have come in the 2011 calendar year, a modern day record in the USA.

The horse may not be as flashy or convincing as Black Caviar but his last start half a length victory once again showed his gutsy nature.

He’s a natural leader and after finding the front they couldn’t catch him over the 1700m journey.

Many have criticised Black Caviar for failing to travel and Rapid Redux also hasn’t gone international but he has won on seven different circuits with seven different riders.

Unlike the great mare though he has tasted defeat earlier in his career, his last loss coming in November last year.

While the horse’s only similarity to Black Caviar is his impressive record and he’s running in a grade far below her, he can still teach us a thing or two.

Nobody is arguing about the merits of this horse and where he ranks against others, nobody is criticising his trainer or owners, people are simply enjoying the ride while it lasts, a lesson a few in this country could learn from.

As for the origins of this gelding, he was purchased by Robert Cole after win number one of his streak last year for a mere $6,250, if only he knew what was to come.
