Arrogant Cat will be making her city debut in style this Friday night when she lines up against Black Caviar in the Group 2 Australia Stakes.
The four-year-old mare has been nominated for a start against the almighty queen of racing as she attempts to claim her 17th unbeaten race start.
Trainer Mark Webb is hoping the four-year-old mare can make the most of her opportunity.
“I haven’t had a chance to really sit down and look at the field but with Black Caviar going around she will obviously scare a few off and there could be a chance to run into some black type if there is only a small field,” he said.
“Running a placing in a stakes race to Black Caviar can certainly add some value to a mare.”
Webb is hoping there are only a handful of runners in the field when acceptances are released tomorrow.
“Arrogant Cat won her maiden in good style at Ararat, she is a filly on the way up and there might only be five or six in the field on Friday night,” he said.
“At the end of the day we know we can’t beat Black Caviar but there is no harm in daring to dream.”
Arrogant Cat finished 12th in her first two race starts last year before winning her maiden on January 16.
The Tiger Hill mare has earned just $6,825 in prize money compared to Black Caviar’s $4.3 million.
Arrogant Cat will be joined in the Australia Stakes by stablemate Johannapine, who has won two of her three career starts.
