Black Caviar Brother Sold for $5 million

A half-brother to Black Caviar and superstar colt All Too Hard has sold for a record-breaking $5 million.

By super stallion Redoute’s Choice out of top broodmare Helsinge, the colt was purchased by BC3 Throughbreds at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale today, smashing the previous Australian yearling record of $3 million.

A relieved Simon Marshall from BC3 Thoroughbreds said the organisation had been “really keen” on the colt and were now looking forward to the adventure.

“It’s been a lot of hard work to get here,” Marshall told Channel 7.

“We’ve been really keen on him, we looked at him a month a go.

“We’re looking forward to the adventure and getting him to the races happy and well.”

There is yet to be any mention as to who will train the unnamed colt.

It is the second yearling out of Helsinge purchased by BC3 who also bought Belle Couture for $2.6 million last year.

Belle Couture, now a two-year-old, is in training with Danny O’Brien but when and where she will make her racing debut is yet to be decided.
