Black Caviar Breezes Through First Jumpout

Black Caviar has completed step one of her autumn preparation after successfully getting through an 800m jumpout at Caulfield this morning.

Black Caviar is being readied for the Group 1 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley on January 27.

Even at this early stage of her campaign she’s in sensational form running three seconds faster than many of the other jumpouts.

She stopped the clock at a time of 46.34 seconds, around six lengths ahead of the closest horse and of course that was with plenty left in the tank.

The performance is yet another indication of just how good this horse continues to be.

She’s coming off a personal best mark of 132 from the World Thoroughbred Rankings, a level that makes her the second best in the world and the highest rated mare since the ratings were introduced.

In a further boost to her claims of being the greatest mare ever Ireland’s senior handicapper Garry O’Gorman has thrown in his support.

”You have to go back as far as Pebbles and Miesque in the 1980s and arguably she is the best filly or mare we’ve ever seen,” O’Gorman said.

”It took a handicap to show how good she is, as she gave weight to fillies and colts in the Newmarket Handicap and that form worked out well.”

Black Caviar is set for a relatively short autumn campaign with Royal Ascot in England and even the Brisbane winter carnival potentially on the cards for later in the year.
