Peter Moody & Black Caviar

Peter Moody has let out a sigh of relief after his stable superstar Black Caviar was returned to his Caulfield stables yesterday afternoon.

The trainer has been anticipating her return after she spent the last ten weeks in the paddock following her winning BTC Cup run.

Black Caviar, who has won all 13 of her career race starts, will now begin her preparation for the upcoming Spring Racing Carnival.

“It has been great anticipation the last nine or 10 weeks since she has been away from the stable and we are looking forward to having her back,” Moody said.

“She has put on a good deal of weight, not too much, but she is a quite big girl.

“She is a bit bigger at the moment but that’s where you want her at this stage of a prep.”

Black Caviar’s first spring assignment will be the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield on October 8.

The rising five-year-old will then follow a campaign that mirror’s last year, competing in the Schweppes Stakes on Cox Plate Day and the Patinack Farm Classic on Emirates Stakes Day.

It is then, instead of a Hong Kong onslaught, that Black Caviar is expected to head to Perth to take part in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes.

“We would certainly be very keen to have her there (in Perth),” Moody said.

“It is good prize money and fits in nicely … so she still gets a nice break in time for the autumn.”

Black Caviar was sent out for a spell before her scheduled start in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 in May after she showed signs of fatigue leading up to the race.

“She has come back in great shape,” Moody said.

“We pulled the pin when she showed a bit of wear and tear and tiredness and now she has had a good rest we are really looking forward to the spring.”

Moody has signalled that Black Caviar will remain in Australia until next June, when she will travel to Ascot Racecourse in England to take on her overseas rivals.

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!|
