Co-trainer Wayne Hawkes has confirmed that Binary could be set for a 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign if he is able to win the Dissident At Newgate Farm Plate at Rosehill Gardens tomorrow.

Binary made his racing debut with a professional two lengths win in the Rewards Plate (1250m) at Canterbury on November 19 and has done enough to suggest to Team Hawkes that he is capable of performing at the highest level of racing.
Hawkes told Racing Ahead that Binary is owned by Alan Bell, who also owns undefeated sprinter Deep Field and talented filly Maastricht, and the colorful trainer is confident that Bell will more than make up for the $350,000 he paid for the Starcraft gelding.
“He is owned by Alan Bell and he is the third runner that we have ever had for Alan Bell,” Hawkes said.
“The first one was Deep Field, Maastricht and Binary, so he is the man with the Midas touch.
“He is a proper horse this bloke and he is a lovely, lovely gelding now.
“He (Alan Bell) bit the bullet on the recommendation of gelding him and he is going to get paid over and over again.
“He might only have one more run and then go to the paddock, but I’m sure that you will be seeing a lot more of him in the autumn.
“His win the other day was super and he has trained on strongly since.
“He is certainly an autumn horse and you don’t get many of those.”
Binary was settled just behind the leader by jockey James McDonald in the early stages of his racing debut and Hawkes expects the three-year-old to take up the running at Rosehill Gardens tomorrow.
While Hawkes expects Binary to record his second race win, he believes that the tougher race will be a true test of the abilities of the immature gelding.
“He should be (up on the speed), but it will be interesting to see what he does,” Hawkes said.
“My father always said to me don’t ever judge a first starter on their first start and always look at them on their second start because you will get a better guide to them.
“He is super relaxed horse and he is just a little bit dumb.
“He just doesn’t know how to put it all together, but if he can put this one away we would be nearly thinking about putting him away in the paddock.”
Binary is currently available at odds of $3.50 to take out the Dissident At Newgate Farm Plate and is on top of betting with Ladbrokes along with Chris Waller-trained Good Project.
