The Adrian and Harry Bull trained New Zealand stayer has drawn barrier ten in the final fifteen horse Ipswich Cup field which will be run on a rain affected track after being rated in the heavy range at acceptance time on Wednesday morning.

Kiwi jockey Kelly McCulloch has retained the ride on Benzizni in the Ipswich Cup after the pair finished fourth last start to Chocante in last Saturday’s Group 2 $300,000 Evergreen Turf Brisbane Cup (2200m) at Doomben.

Benzini hasn’t visited the winner’s circle for twelve month since winning last year’s Brisbane Cup over 2400m at Eagle Farm when ridden by her regular rider Rosie Myers.

Toowoomba galloper Jumbo Prince has drawn in closer at barrier four and will be ridden by premiership winning jockey Jeff Lloyd who takes over from Blake Shinn who was aboard the Michael Nolen trainer five year old last start when twelfth to Kaiser Franz in the Group 3 $125,000 Channel Seven Premier’s Cup (2200m) at Eagle Farm on May 27.

Jumbo Prince has winning form on rain affected tracks and wasn’t far off the pace two starts back on a soft track when third in the Listed $100,000 Members’ Handicap (1600m) at Doomben on May 13.

Kaiser Franz has drawn the rails with Robbie Fradd in the saddle again and is backing up this week after finishing tenth to Chocante in the Brisbane Cup.

Trainer Robert Heathcote is hoping that Kaiser Franz can repeat his effort from two starts back when he won the Premier’s Cup as one of the outsiders of the field at $61.

Randwick co-trainer Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott will saddle up Sort After who has drawn out wide at barrier eleven with Stradbroke Handicap winning jockey Corey Brown in the saddle.

Sort After is coming off an Adelaide Autumn Carnival campaign where she ran fourth to Amelie’s Star in the Group 2 $275,000 Hughes Limousines Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville on May 6 followed by a second to Exocet in the Listed $125,000 Centaurea Stakes (2019m) at Morphettville on May 20.

The Brisbane Winter Carnival’s dual Group 1 winning jockey Jim Byrne takes the ride on the John Sargent trained Paragon who was also out of luck at the barrier draw with gate thirteen.
