Beaded Needing New Jockey For Tiara

Beaded will need a new jockey for the Tattersall's Tiara at Eagle Farm

Kerrin McEvoy has been scrubbed out of riding Beaded in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara after electing to not fight his suspension.

McEvoy received an eight meeting ban as a result of one of his rides on Stradbroke Day at Eagle Farm last weekend.

He was found guilty of careless riding just after the start of the TJ Smith with Benfica, a race which he then went on to win.

McEvoy is out of action as of today and he won’t be eligible to ride again until the Monday after the Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm on June 25th.

“I decided not to appeal,” McEvoy said yesterday.

“We thought about it, but I pleaded guilty and I thought it was a fair sentence. I finish after today’s meeting (at Canterbury) and then I’m back on Monday week.”

It’s a big loss for McEvoy who won the Doomben 10,000 with Beaded and then ran second to Sincero with her in the Stradbroke Handicap.

She will be a favourite for the Tattersall’s Tiara, the race formerly known as the Winter Stakes.
