Leading Melbourne trainer Peter Moody has entrusted apprentice Regan Bayliss to handle his smart mare Quayside in the Listed $80,000 Penang Trophy (1800m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

Bayliss will also be aboard Moody’s other runner Brilliant Bisc in the Listed $80,000 Sportingbet W H Wylie Handicap (1100m).
Moody has plenty of confidence in the young apprentice and has booked him the in the non-claiming Listed races even though Bayliss is eligible to claim 3kgs.
But Bayliss has been aboard both mares for recent wins and the stable hopes the winning combinations will continue at Morphettville.
Quayside is returning to Morphettville after running fourth to May’s Dream in the Group 1 $400,000 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on April 26.
The Street Cry mare has had one run back from a spell with Bayliss steering her to a three and a quarter lengths win over 1400m at Sandown on September 3.
“She won it with real arrogance,” Bayliss told the Sportsman.
“She won by three lengths but as soon as she hit the front she was looking around and wasn’t going straight.”
“She’s always been a pretty classy horse but I think this time she has matured and furnished into a beautiful mare.”
Brilliant Bisc is also racing in fine form with wins from her last two starts with Bayliss aboard but is stepping up sharply in class taking on the open company sprinters.
Bayliss teamed up with Brilliant Bisc for a win over 1000m at Sale on August 14 then the pair scored again over 1000m at Sandown on September 3.
“When she came back from a spell she was big in condition and if she was going to win at Sale it was going to be on raw ability but she did win,” Bayliss said.
“And she showed how much improvement she took out of it at Sandown and I think she has improved again.”
“I galloped her on Wednesday and she’s really flying.”
Moody also has Planet Voyage going around in the W H Wylie Handicap with top local rider Jamie Kah taking the mount.
Quayside has been installed the $2.30 favourite for the Penang Trophy with Ladbrokes.com.au with Evangelist the next best in the market order at $6 just ahead of What’s In A Name at $6.50.
While Brilliant Bisc is listed as a $12 chance in the W H Wylie Handicap with last start Carlyon Stakes winner Iconic the $3 favourite ahead of local sprinters Essay Raider at $6 and Rizizz at $6.50 with Planet Voyage marked at $15.
