Glen Boss will ride Hay List again in the BTC Cup

In a saga that seems to dwarf the Corey Brown / Hot Snitzel tug of war during the Golden Slipper, the prized Hay List ride in the BTC Cup at Doomben has being awarded to as many as four riders.

With things now starting to settle down though we can reveal Glen Boss is the man who has come up trumps, at least that’s how it stands at the moment.

Glyn Schofield is the regular rider and were it not for a fall in Sydney which broke his collarbone he would have been the jockey no questions asked.

Schofield maintained he would recover in time for the BTC Cup but connections weren’t so sure so they booked Queenslander Shane Scriven.

That in itself wasn’t a smooth process with Scriven having to secure a stay of proceedings against a five month riding suspension in the infamous whip stealing affair.

In a strange twist of fate it was then reported connections were instead chasing Glen Boss to ride Hay List as he had impressed with his win in the All Aged Stakes after filling in for Schofield at late notice.

Also thrown into the mix was current Queensland jockey title leader Chris Munce who had shared success with Hay List during last year’s Brisbane Winter Carnival.

In the end though it’s Boss who has been secured for the ride which will require him to fly back from Singapore where he has just started a short term contract.

It’s heart break for Schofield however there was some good news for the South African born veteran.

“I’m seeing the doctors again on May 16 and I hope to be back riding on the 21st,” Schofield said.

“That will give me a week to prove my fitness to ride Hay List in the Doomben 10,000.”

It’s been a good week for Boss who has also booked a spot on Sacred Kingdom in the Group 1 Kris Flyer International Sprint in Hong Kong.

It will be an incredible matchup when he takes on Rocket Man, the horse many regard as the world’s biggest threat to Black Caviar.
