Trainer Gerald Ryan has revealed that a barrier trial in Sydney next month will decide what path Peggy Jean will follow during the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.

Peggy Jean has not been seen at the races since she finished fifth behind Go Indy Go in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 26, but has returned to trackwork and is building towards a barrier trial on August 18.
The daughter of Myboycharlie is a chance of resuming in the Group 3 The Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 30 before contesting the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at the same venue a fortnight later or could resume in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on September 6 and head towards the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) on October 5.
“She is stronger,” Ryan told Racing Ahead.
“She will probably kick-off in either The Run To The Rose or the second race of the Princess Series.
“Then she will either stay in the Princess Series or go to the Golden Rose; we will decide probably after she trials on the 18th.
“At this stage I don’t think she will run in the Silver Shadow and it will either be The Run To The Rose or the next 1200 metre fillies race on the first Saturday in September.”
Peggy Jean made her racing debut with a second place finish behind Nayeli in the 2014 ATC Membership On Sale Maiden (1000m) at Randwick on January 8 and scored an upset win over Group 3 winner Boomwaa in the Inglis Classic (1200m) at Royal Randwick on January 18.
The Triple Crown Syndications-owned filly was sent for a freshen-up after finishing third in the Rosehill Gardens on February 1 and resumed with a narrow second behind Bring Me The Maid in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 29.
Ryan elected to skip the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) with the talented juvenile and that decision proved a masterstroke when she stormed home from the tail of the field to score her maiden win at Group 1 level in the Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on April 12.
Peggy Jean was purchased for $46,000 at the 2013 Inglis Classing Yearling Summer Sale and has already accumulated $882,525 in prizemoney for connections.
