Bachman has not been seen at the races since he failed to fire on a rain affected track in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 26, but he has impressed Ryan with his trackwork since returning to the stable ahead of his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

Ryan told Racing Ahead this morning that Bachman would return to the races in the Golden Rose Stakes and the veteran trainer believes there are plenty of options for the All American colt after he was included in the nominations for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 11, Group 3 Caulfield Classic (2000m) on October 18 and the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 25.

“He is going terrific,” Ryan said.

“Bachman will trial on the 18th and then again a fortnight later and run first-up in the Golden Rose.

“He will go down and run in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude and the Caulfield Guineas.

“I said to Damian if you have a horse that has won a Caulfield Guineas, but isn’t entered in the Cox Pate you would be dirty you can’t get into it.

“You have the Norman Robinson now which is the week after and the Vase.

“There are options for him and he is a horse that I have always had a lot of time for.”

Bachman made his racing debut with a fourth place finish behind the talented Fighting Sun in the Listed Canonbury Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on February 15 and was third in the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1200m) at Canterbury on March 5 before scoring his maiden win in the IPad App Handicap (1300m) at Warwick Farm on March 20.

The talented colt made his debut at Group level in the Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) with an impressive two and a half lengths victory over Scratchy Me Lucky and Veuvelicious and he was sent to the spelling paddock after he beat home just a single runner in the Champagne Stakes.

Ryan is chasing his maiden win in the Golden Rose after Clangalang finished third behind Sportsman in the 2002 edition of the race.

Bachman is currently available at odds of $41 in the 2014 Caulfield Guineas betting market with Ladbrokes Australia.
