Trainer Gerald Ryan has a ready main Melbourne Spring Carnival three year old with Bachman who scored an easy win in the Group 3 $150,000 The Schweppervescence (1400m) on a heavy track at Rosehill today.

Bachman scored back to back wins after winning a midweek Warwick Farm race on March 20 and Ryan said that he will set the All American colt for the Group 1 $1m Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield in October.

“I think he is a really nice this horse and whatever he does as a two year old he is going to be a hell of a lot better as a three year old,” Ryan said.

“If ever I had a horse that is a Caulfield Guineas horse I reckon this is it.”

“Look after him and aim him towards the Guineas in the Spring with him.”

“I’ll just poke along quietly with him, he might have one more, he may go to the paddock now. I think he is the makings of a really nice horse.”

Winning jockey Nash Rawiller was having his second ride on Bachman and kept his winning record intact with a patience ride.

Rawiller said that Bachman ($5.50 equal favourite) began well from the inside gate but then dipped badly and went back through the field quickly.

But Rawiller was happy to have most of the field in front of him and shortly after entering the straight eased the two year old out to the middle of the track to run home to win by two and a quarter lengths from Scratch Me Lucky ($7.50) with Blake Shinn electing to stay on the inside on the heavy track.

Veuvelicious ($5.50 equal favourite) with Damien Oliver aboard battled on well for third.

Even though Bachman scored a dominant win on the rain affected track, Rawiller said that the colt didn’t feel all that comfortable in certain sections of the track.
