Race 9 (5:45pm) – $100,000 Saintly Handicap Results
My Sneaky justified a betting plunge to record a narrow victory in the 2017 Saintly Handicap at Flemington this afternoon.
Theanswermyfriend went into the Saintly Handicap as favourite and he kicked clear at the top of the straight and looked like he had the race won.
It was Mr Sneaky that emerged from the pack and he absolutely stormed home in the final 100 metres to steal victory in the shadows of the post.
- 1st: Mr Sneaky
- 2nd: Theanswermyfriend
- 3rd: Settler’s Stone
Race 8 (5:10pm) – $120,000 Listed Roy Higgins Quality Results
Big Memory returned to winning form for the first time since 2014 to win the 2017 Roy Higgins Quality at Flemington this afternoon.
The losing streak of Big Memory looked as though it would continue when Cadillac Mountain loomed on the outside in the final 100 metres, but he fought back impressively in the final stages to claim victory.
Big Memory had not won since he beat Signoff, Let’s Make Adeal and Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist in the 2014 edition of the Herbert Power Stakes.
- 1st: Big Memory
- 2nd: Cadillac Mountain
- 3rd: Settler’s Stone
Race 7 (4:30pm) – $750,000 Group 1 Australian Guineas Results
Hey Doc justified favourtism to record a dominant victory in the 2017 Australian Guineas at Flemington this afternoon.
Hey Doc received a lovely trail into the race despite overracing early and he responded quickly when he was asked for an extra effort by jockey Luke Currie.
The Duporth gelding put a couple of lengths on his rivals in just as many strides and he was far too good for his rivals in the final stages.
Prized Icon ran on late for a gallant second and Snitzon handled the step-up in class to Group 1 level for fourth.
- 1st: Hey Doc
- 2nd: Prized Icon
- 3rd: Snitzon
Race 6 (3:50pm) – $150,000 Group 3 Rewards Stakes Results
He Or She returned to the races with a very narrow victory over a gallant Hooked in the Rewards Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.
He Or She was under pressure a long way from home and looked as though he would be outsprinted by Hooked and Zebrinz late, but he fought back in the final stages and got his nose down at the right time.
Co-trainer David Hayes was pleased to see He Or She return to races with the win and he indicated that he Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington in a fortnight before a potential trip to Sydney for the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).
- 1st: He Or She
- 2nd: Hooked
- 3rd: Zebrinz
Race 5 (3:10pm) – $150,000 Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m)
Turbo Miss held-off a flying Rising Romance to score an impressive victory in the 2017 Frances Tressady Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.
Turbo Miss missed the start and was settled much further back than the majority of experts expected in the early stages of the race.
The Sebring mare was held-up for the majority of the straight, but she eventually forced her way into clear running and she savaged the line in the last 100 metres.
- 1st: Turbo Miss
- 2nd: Rising Romance
- 3rd: Jalan Jalan
Race 4 (2:30pm) – $100,000 Mitty’s Handicap Results
Show A Star led from start to finish to take out the Mitty’s Handicap at Flemington this afternoon.
Jordan Childs elected to take up the running on Show A Star and he was able to control the race, while Portman was settled in the second half of the field.
Portman finished strongly and ran the best closing sectionals, but Childs timed the ride on Show A Star to perfection and was able to hold on late.
- 1st: Show A Star
- 2nd: Portman
- 3rd: Divine Mr Artie
Race 3 (1:55pm) – $120,000 Listed 3AW Is Football Stakes Results
Ploverset finished over the top of stablemate Madeenaty to score an upset victory in the 3AW Is Football Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.
Madeenaty started the race as a dominant odds-on favourite and she looked like the winner when she kicked clear from her rivals with 400 metres left to run.
The daughter of Exceed And Excel clearly tired late and it was the debutant Ploverset that showed an explosive turn-of-foot to claim victory.
Ploverset will head to the Breeders Stakes in a couple of weeks, while Madeenaty remains an outside chance of heading to Sydney for the Golden Slipper.
- 1st: Ploverset
- 2nd: Madeenaty

Race 2 (1:20pm) – $120,000 Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap Results
Heatherly led from start to finish to record a very comfortable victory in the Bob Hoysted Handicap at Flemington this afternoon.
Heatherly started the race as a short-priced favourite and it was a very easy watch for punters that took the short price as she quickly found the lead before putting away her rivals in the final stages.
Co-trainer Matthew Ellerton confirmed that Heatherly will head to Sydney for the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens in a fortnight.
- 1st: Heatherly
- 2nd: Lady Esprit

Race 1 (12:45pm) – $100,000 Mrs Mac’s Family Bakery Sprint (1100m)
Talented filly Missrock held on to record a very narrow victory in the Mrs Mac’s Family Bakery Sprint at Flemington this afternoon.
The pre-race betting market suggested that there was not many between the leading chances in the race and that proved to be the case in a truly blanket finish.
Missrock always looked the winner, but Sword Of Light absolutely flew down the outside late, while Invincible Heart almost got her nose down at the right time.
She remains in the entries for the Newmarket Handicap, but trainer Robbie Laing does not plan to back the filly up and she is set to have her next race start in Sydney.
- 1st: Missrock
- 2nd: Invincible Heart
- 3rd: Sword Of Light
