Progressive stayer Let’s Make Adeal is set to contest the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) during the 2014 Melbourne Festival Of Racing before heading to Sydney for the Group 1 The BMW (2400m).

Let’s Make Adeal was one of the most consistent stayers during the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival and did enough in her six starts to convince trainer Nigel Blackiston that she is good enough to do the majority of her racing at Group 1 level in the autumn.

“She arrived back in the stable yesterday afternoon,” Blackiston told Sky Racing HQ.

“She will come back in and she will possibly head towards the Australian Cup for her second start and then hopefully head to Sydney for a couple of runs.

“The BMW would be her main goal.”

Let’s Make Adeal started her spring campaign with a mid-week win at Sandown in the Guinot International Handicap (1600m) before making her Group 1 debut with an impressive fourth place in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

The Red Ransom mare finished second behind Star Rolling in the Listed Penang Trophy (1800m) in Adelaide and managed to finish fourth in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) despite almost falling at the 2000 metre mare.

The talented mare narrowly missed out on a spot in the 2013 Melbourne Cup field after finishing second to Ruscello in the Group 3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) before ending her campaign with another strong performance in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m).

Blackiston was delighted with each of Let’s Make Adeal’s runs during her spring preparation but is expecting her to be even better when she fully matures next year; with a tilt at the 2014 Melbourne Cup (3200m) already on the agenda for the Granddaughter of Let’s Elope.

“She was always going to be twelve months away because it was her first real preparation and every time I stepped the bar up she kept on taking the bar,” Blackiston said.

“She is still immature and she still has a lot of developing to do but next spring I am hoping that she will win a nice race for us.”

Blackiston is chasing his first win at Group 1 level since Littorio took out the 2010 edition of The BMW.
