Trainer Mark Kavanagh will wait until after Tuesday morning track work before deciding which race his unbeaten star Atlantic Jewel races in at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Kavanagh has nominated Atlantic Jewel for the Group 2 WFA $300,000 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) and the Group 2 $220,000 W H Stocks Stakes (1600m) for the mares.
With only twelve horses nominated for each of the Group 2 feature races, the Moonee Valley Racing Club has extended nominations until 10am, Wednesday September 10 for both races.
Nominations for the The $80,000 Super Vobis Three-Year- Old Fillies Plate (1200m) and the Group 2 $175,000 Mitty’s McEwen Stakes (1000m) for the weight for age sprinters have also been extended.
Atlantic Jewel has pleased Kavanagh in the stable since her stunning return to the racetrack when she toyed with her opposition in winning the Group 1 $350,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 31 at her first run for sixteen months.
“She’s fabulous. She’s going to Moonee Valley,” Kavanagh said.
“We are happy with her progress and will be back at the track next Saturday all being well.”
Atlantic Jewel took her winning sequence to eight from eight in the Memsie Stakes, her third Group 1 victory, and showed no signs of the tendon injury that keep her away from the racetracks for such a long period of time.
Kavanagh’s Australian Cup winner Super Cool is one of the twelve nominated in the Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes which also include Fiorente from the Gai Waterhouse stable, European import Seville from the Robert Hickmott team, Group 1 Emirate Stakes winner Happy Trails and Kiwi multiple Group 1 winner Sangster.
While Atlantic Jewel, rated 117, looks to have a mortgage on the W H Stocks Stakes if Kavanagh decides to go that way, with the Mick Price trained Fibrillation the closest rated mare on 97.
At her latest effort Fibrillation ran second to Bec Said No Credit (rated 88) in a $80,000 Mares Handicap at Caulfield on August 31.
Kavanagh has his eyes set on the Group 1 $3m Sportingbet Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 26 and the Fastnet Rock mare has a stranglehold on the betting at $2.50.
Her nearest rival in the weight for age championship is the Darren Weir trained Puissance De Lune who suffered his first defeat from his last five starts when run down by Foreteller in the Group 1 $350,000 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
Kiwi four year old It’s A Dundeel is next in the betting at $9.50 with Super Cool also prominent in the market order at $12.
