Arctic Flight’s win was the third for Cummings for the day and winning jockey Peter Robl’s fourth, wrapping up a successful day for both.

“This filly has really improved in the time she’s been in the stable. I said coming here today that she had taken another step after he run the other day,” Cummings said.

“To get a stakes win for that means quite a lot.”

As with his other winners for the day, Robl was able to cross from a wide barrier and dictate the race from the front on Arctic Flight and held on to score a courageous win.

“I know what she is like and Peter hadn’t really gone for her.”

“You are always worried about wide gates but she got over fairly simply and really just put them away after that.”

Cummings has mapped out a two race program for Brisbane with the Listed $100,000 Sky Racing World Gai Waterhouse Classic (1350m) at Ipswich on June 15 and the last Group 1 of the season, the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm the following week.

Robl completed his best ever day on a metropolitan track by chalking up his fourth win on Arctic Flight following his wins on Tweet for Grahame Begg, and Diamond Earth and Fontellina also for Cummings.

“I’ve just been on the right horses, A couple of them horses have been front runners and they’ve got there quite nice,” Robl said.

“She had very good form coming into today, she got the right run in front and they left her alone. She had enough the last hundred just to hold off the second horse, so it was a good effort.”

Arctic Flight was able to hold on to score by a head from the hard finishing Pipette with Glyn Schofield and the favourite Miss Stellabelle who tried hard in the straight.
