Highly regarded two-year-old All Too Hard will make his Sydney debut this weekend when he lines up in Golden Slipper lead up event the Group 2 $175,000 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Trained by John Hawkes and sons Michael and Wayne, the half brother of Black Caviar has received plenty of hype in his young career.

So far the Golden Slipper second favourite has lived up to that hype by winning on debut in the Talindert Stakes before producing a stunning four-length victory in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington on March 10.

Despite sitting in the markets as a Golden Slipper front runner, he is no certainty to run in the prized two-year-old race which will occur just seven days after Saturday’s Pago Pago.

Michael Hawkes said they would wait and see how the talented colt pulls up following the Pago Pago before making any decision on a possible Golden Slipper start.

“It’s well stated that we’ll wait and see how he pulls up and go forward from there,” he said.

“[We’ll] just look forward to Saturday and hope he puts his best foot forward again and show everyone what he did in Melbourne.”

The Pago Pago Stakes stands as one of the final lead up events to the Golden Slipper and with acceptances announced next Tuesday, it gives a final chance for colts and geldings to impress.

Also named to run in the Pago Pago Stakes is Skyline Stakes third-place getter Collect and Peter Snowden trained colt Limes.

The last of the female juvenile lead ups will also run at Rosehill on Saturday with Queensland Golden Slipper hopeful Doubtfilly one of the headline acts.

The Golden Slipper will take place on Saturday April 7 and stands as the richest race for two-year-old horses in the world.
