Retirement talk is off the table for All Too Hard who is being prepared for a crack at the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick next month.

Co-trainer John Hawkes today ended speculation about the star colt’s immediate future, saying he is over the minor health problems that ruled him out of the Australian Guineas.

“He has got plenty of time to be right for that [All Aged Stakes],” Hawkes told Racing Victoria.

“If he is ready then he will run in it and if he is not he won’t but at this stage that is where he is heading.”

Team Hawkes have stables at both Rosehill and Flemington but Hawkes said he would remain in Melbourne for the time being.

The decision to target the All Aged Stakes also keeps open the possibility of testing the multi-million dollar galloper on the international stage.

The Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in June has already been touted as a possibility.

On the home front, a mouth-watering clash has potentially been set up in the All Aged Stakes between some of Australia’s biggest equine stars.

Some of the horses that have been spruiked to join the big stallion prospect on April 27 in Sydney include his half-sister Black Caviar, Gai Waterhouse-trained pair More Joyous and Pierro and classy sprinter Hay List.

Hawkes said he is not concerned by what will line up against his stable star next month.

“If they turn up that’s good, if not so be it,” he said.
