All Aged Stakes 2015: Cassidy To Dictate On Dissident

Jim Cassidy has been booked to ride Dissident in the 2015 All Aged Stakes and trainer Peter Moody will leave the tactics up to the veteran hoop, but expects Cassidy to press forward on Dissident in the early stages of the Group 1 event at Royal Randwick tomorrow.

Cassidy has not ridden Dissident since he finished sixth in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) in March last year, but he steered the Sebring entire to victory in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) and the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m).

Moody told Racing Ahead that Cassidy rode Dissident aggressively in his four race rides on the four-year-old and he expects the veteran jockey will give his rivals something to catch in the 2015 edition of the All Aged Stakes.

“He is an on-pace horse and J Cassidy is a brilliant judge of speed and that is how he has ridden the times he has been on his back,” Moody said.

“I am not going to tell Jimmy how to ride him, I will leave it to him and he will work it out.

“I’m pretty sure he has won a couple of these types of races throughout his career and I would suggest that they will be giving us a fair start and it just comes down to the conditions on the day as to whether we can hold them off.

“I have great respect for those horses, but in saying that their form is probably better at six furlongs than it is at seven even though they have shown they can run that trip, but at this level it is another question mark.

“It is a bloody good race.”

Dissident will be retired after he runs in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) this weekend and Moody is happy with the condition he has the stallion prospect in heading into this final race start.

Moody believes that Dissident has not received the plaudits that he deserved during his racing career, having won the Royal Randwick Guineas, Memsie Stakes, Makybe Diva Stakes and Orr Stakes at Group 1 level, but he is hopeful that the four-time Group 1 winner will go out a winner in the All Aged Stakes.

“He is in great shape and he is in real great condition,” Moody said.

“He has done a remarkable job this horse, he has raced in Group company every start of his career, he won his first start as a two-year-old and it would be great to see him going as a Group 1 winner.

“He has never really got the accolades for his ability, but he is a four time Group 1 winner and he has always been competitive at the top level.”

Dissident is currently available at 2015 All Aged Stakes odds of $10 with Ladbrokes and is on the sixth line of betting behind Chautauqua ($3), Terravista ($5.50), Lucky Hussler ($6.50), Shooting To Win ($8) and Wandjina ($8).
