Adebisi Scratching Gives Isabella Galaxy Start

Queensland gelding Adebisi has been scratched from Saturday’s Group 1 Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill, clearing the way for exciting Victorian filly Isabella Snowflake to make her Group 1 debut.

Trainer Desleigh Forster always had the Listed Bribie Handicap in Brisbane as a back-up option for Adebisi and he will head there after receiving a wide barrier 16 draw in the Galaxy.

The scratching of both Adebisi and Hay List have been Isabella Snowflake’s gain as the second emergency steps in to take on a classy field of sprinters.

The three-year-old filly faces easily the biggest test of her career, stepping up in just her sixth career outing to take on Challenge Stakes winner Snitzerland and multiple Group 1 winner Sea Siren.

Isabella Snowflake has won four of five career starts and is coming off a victory in the Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap at Flemington on March 2.

In that race she beat Ready To Rip and Karuta Queen. Karuta Queen has since finished second to Black Caviar in the William Reid Stakes while Ready To Rip carried 60kg to win the Listed Thoroughbred Club Cup at Flemington on Saturday.

Trainer Mick Price cautioned earlier this week the rise in grade may have come too quickly but takes confidence out of a strong trial performance at Randwick on Friday.

“I’m really concerned that she’s probably not going to win because of the jump in grade but I couldn’t find the right race as I had a query over her running 1200 metres,” Price told Racing Victoria.

“She trialled at Randwick last week on the course proper and I thought she went super.

“She was only just beaten by Bel Sprinter who sat off her and was shaken up.”
