Queensland speedster Adebisi is a notable omission from the field for Saturday’s Ascot Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm, with the front-runner to be saved for Wednesday’s Listed $150,000 Ramornie Handicap (1350m) at Grafton.

The five-year-old will be running first-up in the country feature sprint where he is set for a showdown with in-form defending champion Howmuchdoyouloveme.

The pair are both electric out of the gates and like to set the pace for their rivals but Adebisi trainer Desleigh Forster is confident her stable star will be the leader.

“Adebisi is absolutely brilliant out of the machines. He will lead,” Forster told News Limited.

The Shovhog gelding hasn’t been seen since an autumn campaign that was highlighted by wins in the Group 3 Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield and the Listed Razor Sharp Quality at Warwick Farm.

Forster will again look south for targets this spring as his record now makes it difficult to find suitable targets in his home state.

Also heading to the Ramornie is Wyong-based galloper Big Bonanza who delivered a three-length walloping of his rivals in a benchmark 85 handicap at Rosehill on Monday.

With Adebisi not among the acceptors for the Ascot Handicap, Tony Gollan-trained sprinter Listen Son will carry the topweight of 58kg.

An even 13-horse field will contest the $80,000 dash including 2012 Golden Slipper fourth Doubtfilly.

The Stuart Kendrick-trained filly was third in the Gai Waterhouse Classic two starts back and is expected to appreciate a significant drop in class after finishing eight lengths off winner Red Tracer in the Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara.

In good form is Delago Bolt who boasts minor placings behind Howmuchdoyouloveme at stakes level in his past two trips to the races.
