Acatour among the nominations for 2017 Sunshine Coast Guineas

Team Snowden can add to their Winter Carnival haul with Acatour who is among the thirty-two nominations for the Group 3 $125,000 XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

The father and son training partnership of Peter and Paul Snowden kicked off the Queensland Winter Carnival in great style with Redzel leading all of the way to win the Group 1 $700,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1200m) at Doomben on May 13.

The Randwick trainers then bookended the Winter Carnival’s Group 1 races by winning the last Group 1 of the 2016 – 2017 racing season with Tycoon Tara scoring an all the way win in the $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1350m) at Doomben last Saturday.

Acatour will give the Snowdens a great chance to collect another feature race win for their Winter Carnival team and the Sebring colt will be well suited coming back to his own age group in the Sunshine Coast Guineas after a first up fifth to Monsieur Gustave in the Listed $175,000 City Of Ipswich Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich on June 17.

Acatour is the winner of four of his eleven starts and did show his liking for the 1600m with a win in the Group 3 $200,000 Chine Horse Club Carbine Club Stakes at Randwick on April 1.

Co-trainers Gai Warterhouse and Adrian Bott will be looking for some revenge on the Snowdens after Prompt Response went down narrowly to Tycoon Tara in the Tattersall’s Tiara and have nominated My True Love for the Sunshine Coast Guineas.

My True Love ran a mighty race last start when second to her stalemate Prompt Response in the Group 2 $200,000 Bundaberg Rum Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on June 10 which followed a win in a 1400m BenchMark 72 Handicap at Randwick on May 27.

Eagle Farm trainer Chris Munce is hoping that Constantine can continue his winning run in the Sunshine Coast Guineas.

Constantine has been undefeated from four runs for Munce since arriving in his stable and the Turffontein three year old heads to the Sunshine Coast following his last start win in a 1400m Class 4 at the Gold Coast on June 21.

“It was a strong race for a midweek Class Four but he finished very powerfully and beat them well. I have always felt he was going to be best at 1600 metres or further,” Munce told AAP.

Crack Me Up ran a much improved race when second to Religify in the Listed $100,000 The Wayne Wilson (1600m) at Doomben on June 10 and is among the nominations for the Sunshine Coast Guineas.
