A Time For Julia’s Robert Sangster Stakes Odds Lengthen

The 2014 Robert Sangster Stakes odds of A Time For Julia have lengthened in the past 24 hours, but trainer Peter Moody is confident that the talented mare will run well in the Group 1 event at Morphettville on Saturday.

A Time For Julia has the chance to record her maiden win at Group 1 level in the 2014 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville this weekend.

A Time For Julia opened at Robert Sangster Stakes odds as short as $7.50, but has now drifted out to a quote of $9.50; with punters throwing their support behind David Hayes-trained Gregers who is now into a quote of $5.50.

The Redoute’s Choice mare started her autumn campaign with a narrow win in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 8 and finished second behind Red Tracer in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 1 before returning to winning form a fortnight later in the Group 3 Roy Higgins Tribute Quality (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

A Time For Julia made her Group 1 debut with a credible fourth place finish in the Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 22 and Moody told Racing Ahead this morning that the four-year-old is in good condition after being given a freshen-up following the impressive run.

“She has been back home here for three weeks,” Moody said.

“She had a week with Peter Clarke on the water walker after she made the trip home from Sydney.

“She has been in super form since she won here first-up and I am very pleased with her.

“This looks a nice race and it is obviously a competitive mares Group 1, but on her best form she is there to run well.”

A Time For Julia has drawn slightly awkwardly in barrier nine for the 2014 Robert Sangster Stakes and Moody admits that the speed map for the Group 1 event is quite difficult to map up.

The leading Victorian trainer said that he will not be giving any specific riding instructions to jockey Luke Nolen, but expects his stable hoop to settle A Time For Julia in the first half of the field.

“The pace of the race is a little bit indifferent,” Moody said.

“I suppose that Miracles Of Life goes forward from out wide and I would think that we are in the top section of the race and we will be fourth.”

Platelet ($5) remains a narrow favourite in 2014 Robert Sangster Stakes betting markets, but Gregers is the clear market mover for the race and she is now into Robert Sangster Stakes odds of $5.50.
