A.D. Hollindale Stakes Day: Weather Fine, Track Good

The first day of the Queensland Winter Carnival kicks off in perfect conditions at the Gold Coast today with fine weather and a good 4 track for A.D. Hollindale Stakes Race Day.

The rail is in the true position for the entire course and there are eighteen scratchings for the nine race program.

The Group 2 $358,000 Sky Thoroughbred Central A.D. Hollindale Stakes (1800m) will have a capacity field of fourteen to go around with first emergency Leebaz gaining a run after the scratching of Banca Mo.

The other three emergencies Wish Come True, Pornichet and Hopfgarten failed to gain a run in the Group 2 weight for age feature.

The other main feature on the card, the Group 2 $200,000 SMEG Victory Stakes  (1200m), has been reduced to ten runners with the scratching of the Kelly Schweida trained Cape Kidnappers and John Thompson’s Whittington.

The field for the Group 3 $125,000 Moreton Hire Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) has been reduced to thirteen following the scratchings of Wicked Intent, Sampeah, Arrogant Boy and Typing, with first emergency One More Magic gaining a start.

First emergency Empress Zhao gets a run in the Listed $125,000 Border Security Services Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) following the scratching of Flarendi but second emergency Win’s Grey Rose will have to wait for another day.

The Group 3 $125,000 Goldcoastwebsites.com.au Chairman’s Handicap (2200m) will have the smallest field for the day with only eight runners after Anton En Avanti and Monaco Doll were withdrawn.

There will still be a full field of sixteen to run in the Group 3 $125,000 Attwowod Marshall Lawyers Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) with first, second and third emergencies Bearskin, Rising Luck and Larebil all gaining a start following the scratchings of Sarajevo, Miss Cover Girl and Palazzo Pubblico while fourth emergency Real Gene failed to get a run.

The Group 3 $125,000 Surfers Paradise RSL Gunsynd Classic (1600m), the Listed $150,000 Better Than Ready Silk Stocking (1200m) and the Listed $100,000 Carlton Draught Prime Minister’s Cup (1400m) are all  free of scratchings.

The A.D. Hollindale Stakes remains an open betting race with multiple Group 1 winning Kiwi mare Silent Achiever and smart Sydney mare Arabian Gold sharing favouritism at $5 with Ladbrokes.com.au.

After gaining a run, first emergency Leebaz is on the second line of betting with Hooked at $7.50 with Chris Waller’s three runners next in the market order with Moriarty at $9, Hawkspur at $10 and Foreteller at $11.
