A three weeks break is perfect for Comin’ Through leading up to the Group 2 $358,000 Attwood Marshall A.D. Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday, according to trainer Chris Waller.

Comin’ Through is coming off a last start fifth to glamour stablemate Winx in the Group 1 $4m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on day two of The Championships at Randwick on April 14 and is the solid favourite at $2.90 for the A.D. Hollindale Stakes with Ladbrokes.com.au.
“I think three weeks between runs, coming back to 1800m is just the perfect race for him,” Waller told The Courier-Mail.
“Comin’ Through was very good in the Doncaster where he raced three wide and he backed it up with a good run seven days later behind arguably the four best weight-for-age horses in the country in Gailo Chop, Happy Clapper, Humidor and Winx.”
“There’s no better form.”
Comin’ Through had a four run Sydney Autumn Carnival campaign that produced a win in the Group 2 $200,000 Hyland Race Colours Ajax Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill, a second to Happy Clapper in the Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick and a fifth to his glamour stablemate Winx in the Group 1 $4m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick.
Robbie Fradd takes over from Michael Walker on Comin’ Through who will jump from barrier four following the early scratching of Payroll who had drawn in close at two.
Comin’ Through is one of five runners Waller will saddle up in the A.D. Hollindale Stakes which includes his sparring partner Tom Melbourne who he clashed with on two occasions during the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
Tom Melbourne was runner up to Comin’ Through in the Ajax Stakes and then finished behind the second placed Comin’ Through when fifth in the Doncaster Mile.
Waller then sent Tom Melbourne around in the Group 1 $600,000 Schweppes All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 21 for an eighth to Trapeze Artist.
Tom Melbourne is on the third line of betting at $5 for the A.D. Hollindale Stakes with last year’s winner It’s Somewhat splitting the Waller pair at $4.60.
“Tom Melbourne was very unlucky from his wide gate in the Doncaster and he got run off his feet in track record time in the All Aged Stakes,” Waller said.
“I wouldn’t be too concerned about that. I look back to his Doncaster form and 1800m from a soft draw with Corey Brown aboard he will be a close second.”
Waller’s other three A. D. Hollindale Stakes runners are Egg Tart at $9, Satono Rasen at $14 and One Foot In Heaven at $20.
