Some of the Brisbane Winter Carnival’s best horses will be in action at Doomben on Saturday and we have analysed every horse in each race, in order to help you find a winner on 2017 Tattersall’s Tiara Day.

The action on 2017 Tattersall’s Tiara Day is set to get underway at 12:07pm with the running of a Class 6 Plate race over 1350m, while the feature race is slated for 3:57pm.

Race 1 (12:07pm) Stav, Abby And Matt With Osher’s Class 6 Plate (1350m)

An open field of fourteen runners will contest Race 1 on Tattersall’s Tiara Day and there is a case to be made for a good portion of this field. Better Land (barrier 9) has been yet to find his best through two starts this time, but has the notable advantage of Hugh Bowman in the saddle for this race and should be ready to peak, while Flying Light (barrier 7) is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from his first-up third on the Gold Coast a fortnight ago and will appreciate a step up in distance. Notonyourlife (barrier 5) is another horse who should carry plenty of improvement into this race and is drawn ideally, with a light weight. Wild ‘N’ Famous (barrier 1) has gone close at his two most-recent starts and should prove tough to beat once more on Saturday.

Tip: No. 14 Wild ‘N’ Famous ($2.30)

Race 2 (12:42pm) Listed Winning Edge Stakes (1350m)

Eleven two-year-olds will chase black type success in the Listed Winning Edge Stakes. Guissola (barrier 10) faces a notable step up in class, but has won both his starts this time in and should find a handy position behind the pace from barrier 10. Triple Arrow (barrier 4) also carries winning form into the race and is drawn for success, with Hugh Bowman aboard, while Marseille En Fleur (barrier 3) is a real chance, if he can recapture his early campaign form. Ben Currie’s stable has been flying this season and the Toowoomba horseman is well represented in this race by Mishani Wrangler (barrier 1). The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Pretty Fast (barrier 2) is yet to post a race win, but has a class edge on much of the Winning Edge Stakes field and is primed for a big performance.

Tip: No. 3 Mishani Wrangler – Each Way ($8.50/$2.70)

Race 3 (1:20pm) Furnaces @ Aquis Farm Crystal Slipper Plate (1200m)

Ten two-year-old fillies remain in contention for Race 3 at Doomben on Saturday following scratchings. Cellargirl (barrier 6) was also confirmed in the field for Race 2, but has drawn ideally into the Crystal Slipper, has a class edge on all of her rivals and is undoubtedly the filly to beat here. Red Hot Miss (barrier 9) returns from a spell, but showed plenty in her debut campaign and is not without a chance, while She’s Our Star (barrier 13) has continued to improve this time and is set to peak in form third-up in this race. Sista Act (barrier 2) has drawn to get a good run close to the pace from her inside gate, is sure to be given every chance by Jeff Lloyd and would not look out of place in the Crystal Slipper winner’s stall.

Tip: No. 1 Cellargirl ($1.70)

Race 4 (1:57pm) Singapore Airlines 3YO Plate (1350m)

A smart field of thirteen is set to line up for Race 4 on Tattersall’s Tiara Day, including Eat My Trust (barrier 5). Having posted consecutive wins in a pair of Gold Coast sprints this time in, the Trusting gelding has conditions to suit on Saturday and should be tough to run down in the late stages of this race. Smashed It (barrier 8) returned to winning form with a gutsy performance at Toowoomba a fortnight ago, but will need to improve again if he is to continue that form in the Singapore Airlines Plate. With A Promise (barrier 10) won a talent-stacked race at Ipswich last weekend and should only improve upon stepping up to 1350m on Saturday. Double Superlative (barrier 7) has continued to improve with each start this season and has won at the course and distance previously.

Tip: No. 6 Eat My Trust – Each Way ($7/$2.40)

Race 5 (2:37pm) Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup (2200m)

Seven runners remain in contention for the Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup; an open race from a betting perspective following the scratching of leading contender Tucanchoo. Pemberley (barrier 8) ran an impressive third in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2200m) a fortnight ago and will enjoy a step back in class, while War Baby (barrier 4) posted a smart win in the Ipswich Provincial Stayers Cup (2150m) last weekend and should also be right in the finish of this race. Leading local Rudy (barrier 2) has been close several times without returning to winning form this time, but should be offered his best opportunity to date in the Tattersall’s Cup. More Energy (barrier 1) is capable of a first-three finish in this small field.

Tip: No. 3 Pemberley ($2.50)

Race 6 (3:17pm) Listed GH Mumm Open Quality (1615m)

Twelve excellent milers will step out for the GH Mumm Open on Saturday, including topweight Religify (barrier 11). The veteran stormed home to win the Listed Wayne Wilson Mile (1600m) a fortnight ago, but will have to lug more weight this weekend and has drawn a wide barrier. Man Of His Word (barrier 5) has steadily built to the task this time, is weighted for success and has Jeff Lloyd aboard for his third-up run. Payroll (barrier 6) beat a talented field in the Listed Spear Chief Quality (1630m) on June 3rd and should also improve into this race, while horses like Double Impact (barrier 7), Elle Lou (barrier 8) and Hopfgarten (barrier 3) are all live chances in betting markets for this race.

Tip: No. 2 Hopfgarten – Each Way ($9.50)/$2.80)

Race 7 (3:57pm) Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1350m)

A strong and capacity field of fillies and mares has been drawn to this year’s Tattersall’s Tiara and there is a case to be made for most runners. In Her Time (barrier 16) finished a close second in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) a fortnight ago and is undoubtedly the mare to beat in this race. Prompt Response (barrier 8) is treated well at the weights as a three-year-old and was last seen registering a dominant win in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) a fortnight ago, against many of her Tattersall’s Tiara rivals. Danish Twist (barrier 9) and French Emotion (barrier 21) both have the class to win this race at long odds, while Miss Gunpowder (barrier 7), Bonny O’Reilly (barrier 17) and Eckstein (barrier 14) have all been excellent this time and would not look out of place in the Tattersall’s Tiara winner’s stall.

Tip: No. 10 Bonny O’Reilly – Each Way ($9.50/$3.70)

Race 8 (4:32pm) Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes (1200m)

Sixteen classy sprinters will contest an outstanding edition of the Group 3 Healy Stakes; the final race on 2017 Tattersall’s Tiara Day. Dothraki (barrier 14) is arguably the class horse of the field, but has been allocated a tough gate and has been charged with carrying the most weight. Deploy (barrier 8) returned to winning form in the Group 2 Moreton Cup (1200m) last time out and should again prove difficult to beat under the conditions of this race, while All Over Bosanova (barrier 15) and Burning Passion (barrier 1) were also both smart winners at their most recent appearances. Veteran Steel Zip (barrier 9) has steadily built to the task this time and is better than his long Healy Stakes odds suggest.

Tip: No. 1 Dothraki – Each Way ($6.50/$2.50)
